The watch hours threshold is the amount of viewing a YouTube channel must accumulate before it can apply to the Partner Program and earn ad revenue. YouTube publishes the requirement as 4,000 valid public watch hours in the previous twelve months together with 1,000 subscribers, with an alternative route of 1,000 subscribers plus 10 million valid public Shorts views in the previous ninety days. There is also a lower entry tier for fan-funding features. The twelve-month window rolls, so hours earned thirteen months ago drop off, and a channel that stops uploading can fall back below the line after qualifying.
