What is Long-tail keyword?
A long-tail keyword is a longer, more specific search phrase — usually four words or more — that fewer people type but each one wants something exact. Laptop is a head term; refurbished HP laptop under 60000 in Islamabad is long tail. The trade is simple: less traffic, less competition, and a visitor who is much closer to buying. For a small business this is the whole game, because you will not outrank a national site for a two-word term, but nobody has bothered writing a proper page for the ten-word version of the same question.
What does Long-tail keyword mean for a business in Pakistan?
Long tail is where a small Islamabad business can actually win, because the big national sites — Daraz, Zameen, PakWheels — dominate the short phrases and ignore anything with a neighbourhood in it. Nobody at a national portal is writing a page about gym membership fees in DHA Phase 2 Islamabad. Searches here also run long because people include the area name almost every time.
A worked example
A used-car dealer in Islamabad writes ten pages, one per long-tail phrase such as Toyota Corolla 2015 price in Islamabad or car inspection before buying in Rawalpindi. If each page brings only 20 visits a month, that is 200 visits a month from pages nobody else bothered to write, and every one of those visitors has already named the car and the city.
