What is Drop-off?
A drop-off is a specific point where a noticeable group of viewers left. It is a moment, not a rate — you can name the timestamp. Drop-offs happen for concrete reasons and each has a different fix. If it comes right at the start, the hook mismatched the title or thumbnail. If it comes when a new speaker or a new topic appears, the transition was unclear. If it comes just after you asked for a subscribe or mentioned a sponsor, you interrupted the thing people came for. And if it comes when the useful information ends, that is not a problem at all — it just means the video should have stopped there.
What does Drop-off mean for a business in Pakistan?
The commonest avoidable drop-off in Pakistani long-form is the mid-video appeal — 'video achi lagi to like aur subscribe zaroor karein' at the two-minute mark. It reliably costs a chunk of the audience. Move the ask to the end, or drop it into a single line of on-screen text, and the same video keeps hundreds more viewers to the finish.
A worked example
A Rawalpindi motorbike-repair video holds 68 percent until 2:14, then falls to 44 percent in twelve seconds — exactly where a 20-second like-and-subscribe appeal sits. Removing that appeal from the next four videos raises average view duration across them from 3:12 to 4:26.
