What is Backlink?
A backlink is a link from someone else's website to yours. Search engines treat it as a vote: if a university, a newspaper and three respected blogs all point at your page, that page is probably worth showing. Not all votes count the same — a link from a real site people actually read is worth hundreds from a directory nobody visits, and links bought in bulk can get a site demoted rather than promoted. The words inside the link, called anchor text, tell Google what the destination is about, so a link reading Islamabad wedding photographer is more useful than one reading click here.
What does Backlink mean for a business in Pakistan?
The honest routes to links in Pakistan are unglamorous: your chamber of commerce, a university alumni page, a sponsored event write-up, a supplier's stockist list, or a quote in a local news site. Ignore the Facebook groups selling 100 backlinks for PKR 3,000 — those are the same handful of spam domains resold every week, and they can cost you rankings you already hold.
A worked example
A Rawalpindi furniture workshop earns three links: one from a Chiniot suppliers' directory, one from a bridal blog that featured a bed set, one from a university design department after a student workshop. Three real links beat a package of 100 forum profiles, which is why an afternoon spent on the event write-up beats PKR 3,000 on a bundle.
