What is Unfollow rate?
Unfollow rate is how many people leave your account over a period, usually expressed against how many joined in the same period. Instagram and Facebook both report follows and unfollows separately in insights, so net growth hides the real story: an account gaining 300 and losing 250 looks almost identical on a growth chart to one gaining 60 and losing 10, but the first has a serious problem. Unfollows cluster around specific posts, and the pattern is nearly always one of three things — posting far more often than usual, a sudden change of subject, or hard selling several days in a row.
What does Unfollow rate mean for a business in Pakistan?
The classic Pakistani spike is a business page that posts eleven Eid Mubarak graphics in two days, or a creator who suddenly starts pushing an affiliate code. Wedding-season decorators lose followers every February when the content stops being useful to anyone not currently planning a wedding. Post the off-season content that keeps the other eleven months worth following.
A worked example
A Bahria Town restaurant page gains 640 followers in a month but loses 480, netting 160. The daily view shows 310 of those unfollows on the two days it posted six discount graphics each. Cutting to one promotional post a day drops unfollows to 190 the next month.
