What is Story?

A story is a full-screen photo or short video that disappears after twenty-four hours, shown in the row of circles at the top of Instagram and Facebook. Stories are almost entirely a follower surface — they rarely bring new people, and that is fine, because their job is different. They are where you show the unpolished, daily side of a business: today's stock, a client in the chair, a delivery going out. Because stories carry polls, question boxes, link stickers and direct replies, they are the highest-intent surface an account has. The people who reply to a story are much closer to buying than the people who like a post.

What does Story mean for a business in Pakistan?

In Pakistan stories are effectively a shop window and a WhatsApp funnel. Boutiques in Moti Bazaar and online sellers run their whole business on them: post today's pieces with prices, take orders in the DM, take payment on JazzCash or Easypaisa, ship by TCS. Post them through the day rather than all at once, because a single dump gets skipped in one long tap.

A worked example

A Rawalpindi lawn-suit seller posts 7 story frames across a day, each with a price between PKR 2,800 and PKR 5,400. 1,900 accounts view them, 63 tap the DM sticker, and 11 orders are confirmed on Easypaisa the same evening.

These come up in the same conversations and are worth reading together.

Understanding the terms is useful. Doing the work every day is the hard part — and that is what we do, from PKR 15,000 a month.
