What is Reels?
Reels are Instagram's vertical short videos, shot or uploaded at 9:16 and currently allowed to run up to about three minutes. They are the format Instagram pushes hardest to non-followers, which makes them the main way an account reaches people who have never heard of it. Reels are distributed in their own feed and can also appear on Explore, in the main feed and on your profile grid. Instagram reuses the same Reel across those surfaces, so a single upload can keep collecting reach for weeks rather than dying in a day. Shares and saves weigh more heavily than likes in how far a Reel travels.
What does Reels mean for a business in Pakistan?
Reels is where twin-cities service businesses get found — salons, dental clinics, gyms, boutiques, event decorators. Two things decide it here: on-screen captions, because most people scroll with sound off in offices and vans, and prices actually shown on screen. A Reel that says PKR 6,500 for a bridal facial gets fewer views and far more DMs than a vague one.
A worked example
An F-11 gym posts a 34-second Reel showing a trainer correcting deadlift form, captioned in Roman Urdu. It reaches 31,000 accounts, 76 percent non-followers, earns 210 saves and 88 shares, and books 9 trial sessions at PKR 1,000 each.
