What is Comment moderation?
Comment moderation is managing the comments on a brand's posts and ads: replying to questions, thanking praise, handling complaints in public and then in private, and hiding or removing spam, abuse and scams. Platforms help with tools such as hidden-word filters on Instagram and Facebook, which automatically hide comments containing words you list, and the ability to restrict or block accounts. Moderation is not deleting criticism. Removing a fair complaint usually looks worse than answering it calmly. It matters on ads especially, because an ad with unanswered questions and visible scam replies under it converts noticeably worse than the same ad with tidy, answered comments.
What does Comment moderation mean for a business in Pakistan?
Pakistani brand posts attract 'price?' comments, fake giveaway accounts impersonating the brand, and occasional abuse in Urdu and Roman Urdu. A hidden-word list should include Roman Urdu spellings, and a pinned reply explaining how to order cuts the repeated price questions.
A worked example
Imagine an Islamabad clothing brand's Eid ad collects 300 comments, including dozens of 'price plz', several fake accounts posting 'You won, DM us', and a few complaints about late delivery. The moderator answers prices with a quick reply and link, hides and reports the impersonators, and replies to each complaint publicly before moving to DMs.
