Google Analytics 4 is showing no data. What should I check?

Begin with timing. GA4's standard reports can take up to a day or two to process, so a property created this morning will look empty in the usual reports even when tracking works. The Realtime report and DebugView show events within seconds, so use those to test. Visit the site on mobile data rather than office Wi-Fi in case an internal-traffic filter excludes your office.

If Realtime is empty, check the tag itself. View the page source or use Google's Tag Assistant and confirm a Google tag with a G- measurement ID loads on every page. Compare that ID with the one shown in the GA4 admin under data streams; a common mistake is installing the ID from an old or test property, or still having only a retired 'UA-' code. If you use Google Tag Manager, confirm the container is on the site and the latest version was actually published, not just saved in a workspace.

Then look for anything blocking it. A cookie or consent plugin set to block analytics until a visitor accepts will stop data for everyone who ignores the banner. Caching or optimisation plugins on WordPress sometimes strip or delay scripts. A website rebuilt on a new theme may have lost the tag entirely, which is common when a site in Islamabad changes developers. Ad blockers on your own browser will hide your visits, so test in a clean browser.

If data arrives but key reports are blank, check the configuration: key events not marked, filters excluding too much, a reporting identity or thresholding hiding small numbers, or a date range set before the tag went live. Fix one thing at a time and confirm in Realtime after each change.
