What is Quality ranking?
Quality ranking is one of three diagnostics Meta shows against each ad, telling you how it compares with other ads competing for the same audience. The three are quality, engagement rate and conversion rate, and each is reported as a bucket — Above Average, Average, or Below Average with a percentile band. They are relative, not absolute, so a perfectly decent ad can read Below Average simply because it is up against stronger competition. They only appear after enough impressions have accumulated. Read them as a pointer: poor quality suggests the creative or the destination page, poor engagement suggests the hook, poor conversion suggests the offer.
What does Quality ranking mean for a business in Pakistan?
The usual local response to Below Average is to raise the budget, which buys the same weak ad more expensive impressions. The two cheapest fixes cost nothing in media: replace screenshot-and-stock-image creatives with something filmed on a phone in your actual shop, and fix a destination page that takes ten seconds to load. Both feed directly into what the ranking is measuring.
A worked example
Two F-8 gyms bid for the same audience with a similar offer. Gym A, quality and engagement both Above Average, pays PKR 105 CPM. Gym B, running a stock-image graphic pointed at a twelve-second page, sits at Below Average and pays PKR 245 CPM. Gym B pays roughly 2.3 times more to reach the same people.
