What is List segmentation?
List segmentation means dividing your email or WhatsApp contacts into groups so each group receives messages that fit them, instead of sending everything to everyone. Segments can be based on what someone bought, where they live, how they signed up, how recently they engaged, the language they prefer, or whether they are a customer yet. Segmented sends are smaller but more relevant, so they earn more replies and fewer unsubscribes or blocks. Segmentation needs the information to exist, which means asking for it at sign-up or recording it from purchases. Two or three meaningful segments are usually more useful than twenty thin ones.
