What is Core Web Vitals?
Core Web Vitals are three measurements Google uses to judge how a page feels to real visitors. Largest Contentful Paint (LCP) measures loading, Interaction to Next Paint (INP) measures how quickly the page responds to taps and clicks, and Cumulative Layout Shift (CLS) measures how much the layout jumps around. Google's good thresholds are LCP within 2.5 seconds, INP within 200 milliseconds and CLS under 0.1, assessed at the 75th percentile of real Chrome users. They are part of Google's page experience signals, a tiebreaker more than a main ranking factor, but they directly affect whether visitors stay.
What does Core Web Vitals mean for a business in Pakistan?
Pakistani visitors are mostly on mid-range Android phones and mobile data that slows down in the evening, so a site that feels fine on a developer's laptop in an office can fail badly for real users. Search Console's Core Web Vitals report uses those real-user numbers, which makes it more honest than a single speed test.
A worked example
An Islamabad restaurant's site scores well in a desktop test, but Search Console marks its mobile pages Poor: LCP 4.8 seconds, CLS 0.28. The cause is a full-screen video header and a menu image without set dimensions. Replacing the video with a compressed image and fixing the image size brings both into the good range on the next 28-day reading.
