What is Boosted post?
A boosted post is an existing post turned into an ad through the simplified 'Boost' button, using a stripped-down set of controls. You get a rough audience, a radius, a budget and a duration. You do not get proper objective selection, layered audience building, placement control, catalogue ads or most conversion optimisation, and everything runs inside one automatically created campaign you have little say over. That is the trade: two minutes of setup in exchange for tools that usually cut costs by a third or more. Boosting is not a scam, it is just the small version — fine for pushing something that is already working, weak for anything that needs precision.
What does Boosted post mean for a business in Pakistan?
Most local advertising in Islamabad and Rawalpindi is boosting, and most of that money goes out on the default audience the button suggests. That default happily spends your budget on Karachi and Lahore for a shop that only serves Committee Chowk. If you are going to boost, change two things before you pay: set a location radius around your actual customers, and set the button to WhatsApp.
A worked example
A Murree Road bookshop boosts a post for PKR 3,000 on the suggested audience: 21,000 impressions and 14 messages, mostly from other cities. The same PKR 3,000 boosted to men and women 18–35 within 7 km of Committee Chowk returns fewer impressions, 9,400, but 41 messages — and 12 people who actually come in.
