What is Affiliate?
An affiliate is a partner who earns a commission only when they produce an actual sale, tracked through a unique discount code or link tied to their name. Nothing is paid up front, which makes it the lowest-risk way to work with creators and the hardest to get anyone to agree to. You set the commission rate, the tracking method and the payout schedule; they decide how much effort to put in. It fits businesses with a real margin and a countable sale, and fits badly where deals are negotiated one at a time, since there is nothing clean to attach a percentage to.
What does Affiliate mean for a business in Pakistan?
It works well for online sellers with a checkout, including anyone already using Daraz's affiliate programme, and awkwardly for service businesses that close every deal in a WhatsApp conversation. Two local rules keep it sane: pay after delivery rather than after the order, because cash-on-delivery returns would otherwise have you paying commission on parcels that came back, and settle monthly by JazzCash or Easypaisa so creators are not chasing you.
A worked example
A Rawalpindi skincare brand gives 20 creators a code worth 10 percent off and pays 12 percent commission on delivered orders. In one month the codes produce 200 orders worth PKR 600,000. Thirty-two return undelivered, leaving PKR 504,000 delivered, and the brand pays out PKR 60,480 by Easypaisa.
