Should my business use a WhatsApp Channel or a broadcast list?

A broadcast list sends your message to each contact as if it were a private chat. The customer sees it in their normal chat list, can reply, and the reply comes to you as a one-to-one conversation. That is why broadcasts sell: a 'new stock arrived' message leads straight to 'price kya hai?'. The limits are that each list is capped, recipients must have saved your number, and too many ignored broadcasts harm the number.

A Channel is a one-way feed in the Updates tab. People follow it the way they follow a page, there is no practical follower cap, followers cannot see each other's numbers, and they cannot reply to you in a chat, only react or vote in polls. Your number is not shown to followers. Channels suit announcements that many people want: a school's notices, a restaurant chain's daily specials, a creator's new videos, a society's maintenance updates.

The weakness of a Channel for a small business is discovery and conversion. Nobody finds your Channel unless you send them to it, and an update in the Updates tab is easier to scroll past than a message in someone's chats. There is also no direct reply, so you have to add a click-to-chat link in the post to turn interest into an order.

Most businesses in Islamabad and Rawalpindi should get broadcasts right first, using lists built from people who asked to hear from you. If you later find you are announcing the same things to hundreds of people who do not need a conversation, start a Channel alongside and promote it from your Instagram bio, receipts and Google Business Profile.
