What do LCP, INP and CLS mean in Core Web Vitals?

Largest Contentful Paint, or LCP, marks the moment the biggest piece of content in the first screen finishes rendering, usually a hero image or the main heading. Google treats two and a half seconds or less as good. Slow LCP usually comes from a heavy hero photo, a slow server, or styles and fonts that block rendering. On many Pakistani business sites the culprit is a full-width banner image uploaded straight from a camera, sometimes as part of a slider that loads several such images at once.

Interaction to Next Paint, or INP, replaced an older metric called First Input Delay. It looks at how long the page takes to visibly respond after someone taps a button, opens a menu or types in a form, across the whole visit. Google treats two hundred milliseconds or less as good. Poor INP is usually caused by too much JavaScript, such as chat widgets, several tracking tags, heavy page-builder scripts or animations, keeping the phone busy so it cannot react to the visitor's tap promptly.

Cumulative Layout Shift, or CLS, measures unexpected movement: text that jumps down when an image loads above it, or a button that moves just as you tap it. Google treats a score of 0.1 or less as good. It is caused by images without set dimensions, late-loading banners and fonts that swap size. Each metric points to a different kind of fix, which is why our speed optimisation work reports all three separately before and after, rather than a single score.
