How do I fix 'Crawled – currently not indexed' in Google Search Console?

Search Console's page indexing report sorts unindexed URLs by reason, and this one is the most misunderstood. It is not an error and not a penalty. Google fetched the page, read it, and chose not to include it for now. Some pages in this bucket do not matter — tag archives, internal search results, old pagination — and leaving them out is fine. The problem is when your service pages, product pages or articles land here, because then they cannot rank for anything.

Look at the affected pages honestly. Common causes on twin-city business sites are location pages that repeat the same paragraph with only the sector name changed, product pages with one line of supplier text, blog posts written quickly to fill a calendar, and pages that differ only by a filter or colour. Google sees little reason to store a page that adds nothing beyond another one. The fix is to give each page a real purpose: rewrite it with specific information, combine several thin pages into one stronger page and redirect the others, or remove it and stop linking to it.

Then help Google rediscover what you improved. Link to the page from relevant, already-indexed pages using descriptive anchor text, include it in the XML sitemap, and use the URL Inspection tool to request indexing once. After that, wait; recrawling can take days or weeks. If a large share of a site sits in this status, the issue is usually site-wide — weak templates, too many near-duplicates, or a site that is new and has earned little trust yet. Separately, 'Discovered – currently not indexed' means Google knows the URL but has not fetched it, which points more towards weak internal linking, slow servers or a site producing pages faster than Google wants to crawl.
