How should a restaurant menu be designed for WhatsApp and Instagram?

A print menu is designed to be held at arm's length on a table. Photographed and forwarded on WhatsApp, it becomes a blurry page where customers pinch and zoom, cannot find the deals and send a message asking for prices, which costs your staff time during the rush. A phone menu should be readable without zooming, which means fewer items per image, bigger type and strong contrast.

A structure that works for most restaurants: a cover image with the name, timings, delivery areas and order number; one image per category such as BBQ, karahi, rice, breads and drinks; a separate image for deals and family platters; and a final one with location, minimum order and payment options such as cash on delivery, JazzCash or Easypaisa. Keep the same layout across all of them, so the set looks like one menu when it is forwarded. Use real photos of your own dishes, sparingly.

Prices change, so build the menu as editable templates and put a 'valid from' date in small type, which saves arguments about old prices. Add the same images to your WhatsApp Business catalogue, Instagram highlights and Google Business Profile menu section, so a customer finds the same information wherever they look.
