How can I check whether ChatGPT or Gemini mentions my business?

Start with the questions, not the tools. Think about how a buyer would phrase a request to an assistant, which is usually longer and more conversational than a Google search: 'Which bakery in Bahria Town does custom birthday cakes with delivery?' or 'I need a lawyer in Islamabad for a property dispute, who should I talk to?'. Include a few brand checks too, such as 'What do you know about [your business name]?', which shows whether the assistant has your facts right.

Ask in conditions that reduce personal bias. Use a temporary or logged-out chat where possible, since assistants with memory may favour things you mentioned before. Note whether the assistant searched the web for the answer; ChatGPT, Gemini and Perplexity usually show sources when they do. For each prompt, record the date, the assistant, the businesses named, whether you appeared, and the sources linked. A simple spreadsheet is enough. Gemini answers about places often draw on Google's own data, so check your Google Business Profile is accurate before drawing conclusions there.

Read the results as a trend, not a verdict. One answer can differ from the next even with identical wording, so run each prompt two or three times and look at the pattern over months. The sources column is often the most useful part: it shows which directories, articles and review sites the assistants trust for your field in Islamabad and Rawalpindi, and therefore where your business needs to be present and described correctly. If an assistant states something wrong about you — an old address, a service you stopped — trace which source it likely came from and fix that source.
