What is a good conversion rate for a landing page?

A conversion rate is simply the share of visitors who take the action you want, such as tapping WhatsApp, submitting a form or placing an order. The figure looks precise but hides choices. Do you count every WhatsApp tap, or only chats where the person replied? Are you dividing by all visitors, or only those who stayed long enough to load the page? Two businesses in Islamabad can describe identical performance with very different percentages just by counting differently.

Comparisons across industries mislead even more. A page offering a free trial class to parents who already follow the academy on Instagram may convert many visitors, while a page for a premium kitchen renovation in DHA will convert far fewer, and both can be doing well. Traffic matters too: warm visitors from your own followers or a Google search for your name behave very differently from people who saw a broad ad while scrolling. Published averages online are mostly drawn from foreign markets and mixed offers, so we do not lean on them.

What we recommend instead is a steady internal baseline. Set up tracking once, define what counts, and record the rate for each page and traffic source over a fair period. Then change one thing at a time, such as the headline, the offer or the first image, and compare against that baseline. Also follow the lead past the page: a page that brings fewer enquiries but more bookings is the better page.
