Does Elementor or another page builder make a WordPress site slow?

Visual builders let non-developers design pages by dragging sections around, which is why so many Pakistani business sites use them. To make that possible, they wrap content in several nested containers and load their own stylesheets and scripts, often site-wide. Builder add-on packs add more widgets and more files. None of this is dramatic on a fast laptop, but on a mid-range phone over mobile data the extra weight shows up as slower loading and slower response to taps.

How much it matters depends on how the site was built. Recent versions of popular builders have improved, with options to load only the assets each page uses. A site built with a lightweight theme, few add-ons, optimised images and sensible settings can perform acceptably. A site using a heavy multipurpose theme with its own builder, plus Elementor, plus two add-on packs, a slider plugin and animated sections, will struggle no matter how much caching is applied. The builder is rarely the only culprit; it is the stack.

Your options range from tidying to replacing. You can remove unused widgets and add-ons, switch on the builder's performance settings, replace heavy sections like sliders with static images, and use a lighter theme.
