How much does an AI chatbot cost for a business in Pakistan?

The build is the part people underestimate. Someone has to collect your real questions from WhatsApp and Instagram, write the answers the bot is allowed to give, decide what it must never answer, design the hand-over to staff, connect it to the channel and test it with awkward Roman Urdu messages until it behaves. A simple FAQ bot for a salon in F-7 is a much smaller job than a bot that checks stock or books appointments against a calendar.

Then the running costs. Chatbot platforms charge a monthly subscription, often by number of contacts, conversations or agent seats. If the bot uses a large language model, the model provider charges by usage, measured in tokens, which roughly tracks how long the questions, the answers and the knowledge it reads are. These are usually billed in dollars. On WhatsApp you also need the Business API through a provider, and Meta charges for template messages the business sends first, while replies within a customer's 24-hour window are generally free.

The last cost is upkeep. Prices change, a new service launches, Ramadan timings differ, and the bot must be updated or it confidently gives old answers. Someone should read a sample of conversations every week, at least at the start, to catch wrong answers and gaps.

A hypothetical way to estimate it: count last month's chats, guess what share a bot could fully answer, check the platform tier and model usage that volume implies, and add the build. Compare that with the staff time those chats take now. If the bot would only handle a few chats a day, a well-organised WhatsApp Business app with quick replies is often the better buy.
