What is Storyboard?
A storyboard is a shot-by-shot plan made before filming: what is in each frame, from what angle, how long it runs, and what is said over it. It does not require artistic ability — stick figures or a numbered list in a notebook work identically. Its value is turning filming into a checklist, so you finish the day knowing you have everything instead of discovering a missing shot during the edit. For short-form it can be six boxes on one page; for a long video it is usually a table matching script lines to the shots that cover them.
What does Storyboard mean for a business in Pakistan?
It earns its keep on location shoots where going back is expensive — a Murree day trip, a factory in Islamabad's I-9 industrial area, a client's showroom that is only free on Sunday morning. Ten minutes with a list before you leave means you shoot the wide, the close and the hands, not just the wide. It also settles arguments on set quickly, which matters when the shop owner has opinions.
A worked example
A 60-second Reel for a furniture showroom is boarded as eight shots: exterior wide 4s, entrance walk-in 5s, wide of the sofa set 6s, three close details at 4s each, hands testing the cushion 8s, price card 6s, owner's line to camera 12s. That is 53 seconds planned with 7 spare, and the shoot takes 40 minutes instead of two hours.
