What is Script?

A script is the written plan of what gets said, and it exists on a spectrum. Word-for-word scripts produce tight, quotable videos but sound stiff when read badly. Bullet scripts — a hook written exactly, then six or seven points in order, then a closing line written exactly — usually give the best result for people who are not performers, because the structure is fixed while the wording stays natural. The two parts always worth writing out in full are the first fifteen seconds, which decide whether anyone stays, and the call to action, which people otherwise mumble.

What does Script mean for a business in Pakistan?

Most Pakistani experts on camera speak fluent Urdu and formal English, but the video needs the mix in between. Writing the script in Roman Urdu solves it, because the words on the page are then how the person actually talks. Scripting also cuts shoot time sharply, which matters when a doctor has forty minutes between patients or a shop owner can only film after Isha.

A worked example

A dentist's six-minute video on root canal cost is scripted as a 22-word hook written verbatim — Root canal ka kharcha kitna hai, sach yeh hai — then seven bullets covering stages and prices, then a 15-word closing written verbatim. Recording takes 14 minutes instead of the usual 50, and the edit needs about 30 jump cuts instead of 90.

These come up in the same conversations and are worth reading together.
