What is Shot list?
A shot list is a written list of every shot a video shoot needs to capture, usually in shooting order, with notes on framing (wide, medium, close-up), angle, movement, who or what is in it, and which part of the script it supports. It turns a script or storyboard into a practical plan for the day, so nothing is forgotten and the crew is not improvising while the client waits. It also makes the shoot faster, because shots in the same location or lighting can be grouped. A shot list is the difference between leaving with exactly the footage the edit needs and discovering in the edit that the one crucial close-up was never filmed.
What does Shot list mean for a business in Pakistan?
Twin-city shoots often have tight windows — a restaurant before lunch service, a clinic before patients arrive, a showroom before the Friday rush — and load-shedding can cut the lights mid-shoot. A shot list ordered by location and priority makes sure the must-have shots are done first.
A worked example
Suppose a shoot at an F-6 restaurant has 18 planned shots. The list starts with the empty dining room in morning light, then the chef plating three signature dishes, then close-ups of the tandoor, and leaves customer reactions for lunchtime. If the shoot runs short, the first twelve shots are already enough for two Reels.
