What is Sender reputation?
Sender reputation is the trust score that mailbox providers like Gmail and Outlook quietly keep for your sending domain and IP address. It rises when people open, reply to and move your emails out of spam, and falls when they ignore them, mark them as spam, or when your mail bounces off addresses that do not exist. Reputation decides whether your next campaign reaches the inbox, the promotions tab or the spam folder, and it is slow to rebuild once damaged. Protecting it means sending only to people who opted in, removing addresses that bounce or never engage, warming up a new domain gradually, and authenticating mail properly.
What does Sender reputation mean for a business in Pakistan?
A common way Pakistani businesses ruin their reputation is importing an old Excel list of every customer email ever collected, many of them dead Hotmail addresses, and blasting them on day one. The bounces and spam reports can hurt future mail to good customers too.
A worked example
Imagine a Rawalpindi training institute uploads 6,000 addresses gathered over ten years and sends one campaign. A large share bounce and dozens mark it as spam. Its next email, to recent students only, lands in spam too. Starting with the 800 people who enrolled in the last year would have built reputation first.
