What is LUT?
A LUT, or lookup table, is a small file that maps every input colour to an output colour — effectively a preset for a grade. Two kinds exist, and confusing them causes most of the bad results you see. Technical LUTs convert flat log footage into normal contrast and are a required step, not a style. Creative LUTs apply a look, such as teal shadows and warm skin, and should sit lightly on top, usually at reduced strength. A LUT is a starting point for properly exposed, properly white-balanced footage; dropped on a badly lit clip it only makes the problem more colourful.
What does LUT mean for a business in Pakistan?
Free LUT packs circulate constantly in Pakistani editing groups and get applied at full strength to phone footage that was never shot flat, which is why so many local reels come out orange. If you are cutting in CapCut on a laptop, one gentle manual correction usually beats any downloaded pack. Pick or build one LUT you use on everything and your channel starts looking like a single channel.
A worked example
A creator applies a downloaded cinematic LUT at 100% to iPhone footage: skin goes orange and the shadows crush to black. Dropping it to 35% intensity and lifting the shadows slightly keeps the mood without the damage. Applied at that same 35% across all 20 videos in a series, the channel finally looks consistent from clip to clip.
