What is Bitrate?
Bitrate is how much data the video uses per second, measured in megabits per second, and it decides how much detail survives compression. Too low and fast movement breaks into blocks; too high and the file is enormous with no visible benefit, because the platform re-encodes it anyway. YouTube publishes recommended upload bitrates — around 8 Mbps for 1080p at 30fps and about 12 Mbps at 60fps for standard dynamic range — and uploading at those figures gives the platform's encoder better material to work from, which is why a slightly generous upload still looks better after processing.
What does Bitrate mean for a business in Pakistan?
Upload speed is the constraint here, not storage. On a home connection at 5 Mbps up, a 2GB export takes over 50 minutes and any interruption starts it again, so people export at low quality just to get it uploaded, and the video looks soft forever. The better habit is exporting properly and uploading overnight or from an office line, especially during the evening hours when local bandwidth is worst.
A worked example
A ten-minute 1080p video at 8 Mbps is about 600 MB; the same video at 3 Mbps is about 225 MB and visibly blocky whenever the camera moves. On a 5 Mbps upload the 600 MB file takes roughly 16 minutes. Sixteen minutes once is a better trade than a permanently soft video that stays online for years.
