What should I tell a logo designer before they start?

Start with the customer, not the logo. Are they families shopping in Commercial Market, students around H-8, or companies in Blue Area? What do they pay, and what makes them choose you over the place next door? Then list every place the mark must work: a signboard seen from a moving car, a stamp on a receipt, an embroidered uniform, a tiny WhatsApp avatar, a Google Maps pin. A logo that has to be embroidered needs to be simpler than one that only lives on screens.

Show rather than describe. Phrases like 'modern but traditional' or 'make it pop' mean something different to every designer. Instead, send photos of your street and shopfront, screenshots of competitor pages, and a handful of logos from any industry that you like or dislike, with a line on why. Say plainly which colours you cannot use, perhaps because a rival owns them locally or because they clash with your premises.

Finally, be clear about the practical limits: who signs off, what the name must say in Urdu and English, whether the mark will be printed in one colour on packaging, and whether you plan to register it.
