Should my business logo be in Urdu or English?

Customers differ by area and trade. Shoppers in Raja Bazaar or along the old Saddar streets read Urdu signage quickly, and a sweets shop or a hakeem with an Urdu-first mark feels at home there. A boutique in F-7, a software house or a dental practice serving expatriate families may lean English. Plenty of businesses serve both, which is why a paired logo is so common: one shape or symbol, two lettered versions.

The technical side matters more than people expect. Urdu in Nastaliq has a different height, rhythm and flow from Latin capitals, so the two versions need to be balanced deliberately: similar visual weight, a shared icon, and spacing that does not make one look like an afterthought. Typing the name into a default Urdu font beside an English logo almost always looks pasted on, and some design tools break the letter joins altogether.

Think about search as well. People in the twin cities often search in English or Roman Urdu even when they read Urdu signage, so your Google Business Profile name should be the name on your shopfront, written as customers would type it. If your name is an Urdu word written in Latin letters, settle the spelling once and use it everywhere: sign, page handle, listing and receipts. Changing it later splits your reviews, tags and search history between two names.
