Is it risky to build a business on TikTok in Pakistan after the past bans?
There is some risk, because TikTok has been blocked in Pakistan more than once and could be restricted again. The sensible answer is not to avoid it but to avoid depending on it: move TikTok viewers onto channels you control — WhatsApp, an Instagram or Facebook page, an email list, a website — while the platform brings attention.
The longer answer
Pakistan's telecom regulator has blocked TikTok on more than one occasion in recent years, citing content concerns, and access returned after the company agreed to moderate more strictly. Each time, businesses whose only audience was on TikTok lost their sales channel overnight. Nobody can predict whether or when it happens again, and platform rules can also change for other reasons: an account can be banned by mistake, a feature can be withdrawn, or reach can fall. Any single platform carries this risk; TikTok in Pakistan simply has a visible history of it.
The protection is to treat TikTok as a place that finds you customers, not a place where you keep them. Every video should give viewers a reason to take one more step: message you on WhatsApp, follow your Instagram, save your number, join a broadcast list for new stock, or visit a website. Over time those channels hold a list of people who know you, and they keep working if TikTok goes dark. Repurposing each TikTok to Instagram Reels and YouTube Shorts also means your content library is not trapped on one platform.
Keep your own copies of everything you post, without watermarks, in a Google Drive folder. That is good practice anyway, because the same footage can be re-edited later for ads, a website, or a different platform. When we run TikTok for a client, the raw clips and finished edits sit in a shared Drive folder the client owns, and the bio and pinned videos are set up to route people to WhatsApp, so the business keeps its customers even if the app disappears from Pakistani phones for a while.
