How do I track sales from an influencer's post?
Give each creator something unique that customers have to use: a discount code, a tagged link, a WhatsApp message prefilled with their name, or a phrase to mention at the counter. Then count orders, bookings and visits against each one. Likes and views tell you about the post; codes tell you about the money.
The longer answer
Without tracking, influencer marketing becomes guesswork. A post gets plenty of likes, a few people mention it, and the owner cannot tell whether it paid for itself. The fix is to make every creator's audience identifiable. For an online store, use a unique discount code and a link with tracking parameters so your website analytics show which creator sent each visit and sale. For a business that sells over WhatsApp, use a click-to-chat link with a prefilled message such as "Hi, I saw Sara's video" so every enquiry arrives labelled.
For walk-in businesses — a café in F-7, a salon in Bahria Town — tracking needs a little discipline at the counter. Ask the creator to promote a specific offer, like a dessert free with a meal for anyone who says the creator's name or shows the video. Train staff to note it on every bill or in a simple sheet. It will never capture everyone, because some people come later without mentioning it, but it gives a fair comparison between creators, which is what you need to decide where to spend next.
Then compare honestly. For each creator, list the fee, the reach and views from their own insights, the code uses or tagged enquiries, and the orders or bookings that followed. Some creators with huge views will bring few customers; some smaller ones will fill tables. Give it a fair window, because people sometimes act days after watching. We build a results sheet like this for every campaign on the Pro package and recommend putting the next round of budget only behind creators who actually sold.
