How can I track phone calls that come from my website?

On a phone, most website calls start with a tap on a tel: link. That tap can be measured. In Google Tag Manager, create a trigger for clicks on links whose URL begins with tel:, attach a GA4 event such as phone_click, publish, and mark the event as a key event in GA4. You will then see which pages, campaigns and traffic sources lead to call attempts. It measures the intention, not the conversation; someone may tap and then hang up, or call from a number copied down earlier.

Google Ads offers call tracking of its own. Call assets in search ads report calls directly, and website call conversions can swap your number for a Google forwarding number for visitors from ads, where that feature is available in your country. Check in your Google Ads account which options apply to Pakistani numbers before relying on it.

Dedicated call-tracking services assign different numbers to different sources, such as one for Google, one for Facebook and one for the shop sign, and record which number was dialled. Coverage of Pakistani numbers varies by provider, and the service adds a monthly cost, so it suits businesses where each call is valuable, such as property dealers, clinics and education consultants, more than a shop.

Do not neglect the simple method. Train whoever answers the phone to ask, 'Aap ne humein kahan dekha?' and log the answer in a sheet or your CRM. Combine that with the tap tracking and with Google Business Profile's own call reports, and a business in Islamabad or Rawalpindi gets a reasonable picture of which marketing produces calls without any paid tool.
