How do I stop scam and spam comments on my business page?
Use the platforms' built-in filters to hide comments with keywords like phone numbers, "WhatsApp me" and links, check comments daily, and hide or delete scams before customers fall for them. Fake accounts impersonating your page and replying to customers with payment requests are common in Pakistan; report them and warn followers clearly that you never ask for payment that way.
The longer answer
Busy business pages in Pakistan attract several kinds of junk. There are bots promoting followers or crypto, accounts posting adult links, competitors advertising under your posts, and, most harmful, impersonators. An impersonator creates an account with your logo and a similar name, replies to customers' comments with "contact us on this WhatsApp number", and then asks for advance payment through JazzCash or Easypaisa. Customers who are scammed often blame the real business, so dealing with this quickly protects your reputation as well as your customers.
Start with filters. Instagram and Facebook both let you hide comments containing specific words, and offer options to filter offensive or spam-like comments automatically. Add words such as WhatsApp, phone-number formats, "DM me", common scam phrases in Urdu and English, and your competitors' names. Hidden comments stay visible to the commenter and their friends but not to everyone else, which avoids arguments. Check the hidden folder occasionally so genuine questions are not lost.
Then check manually every day, because filters miss things. Delete or hide scam comments, block repeat offenders, and report impersonation accounts to the platform with a link to your real page. Post a clear notice — pinned post, highlight, bio line — stating your only official accounts and numbers and that you never ask for payment in comment replies. When you reply to customers, reply as your verified page so they learn what the real one looks like. On our Growth plans spam, scams and abuse are hidden or reported as part of the daily replies, and threatening or defamatory comments are screenshotted and passed to you before anything is removed.
