For years the verified badge on WhatsApp was a green tick. Meta changed it to a blue tick to match Facebook and Instagram, so most people searching for the green tick now mean that blue badge. It tells a customer the account belongs to the business it claims to be. It does not make your messages deliver better, raise your sending limits by itself, or rank you anywhere.

There are two routes, and neither is something you can buy from a reseller. Businesses using the WhatsApp Business Platform (API) can apply for Official Business Account status through their provider. Meta reviews the request and generally wants a verified Meta Business account, two-step verification on the number, and evidence that the brand is notable, which in practice means coverage in independent news sources, not paid listings or your own blog. Be wary of anyone on Facebook or WhatsApp offering a green tick for a fee. Meta does not sell the badge through third parties, and these offers either take your money or ask for access to your Business Manager, which is a far bigger risk than having no tick at all.
