How to get better audio cheaply
Move the microphone closer to your mouth and the problem is mostly solved. A wired collar mic costs around PKR 1,500 to 3,000 and beats any phone held at arm's length. Filming in a small room with a bed, curtains or a carpet also removes echo for nothing.

The longer answer
People forgive a slightly soft picture and switch off instantly on bad sound. Distance is the main culprit: a phone microphone one metre away picks up the room, the fan and the traffic on the main road as loudly as it picks up you. Get the mic within about 25 centimetres — a collar mic clipped to your kameez, or even the wired hands-free that came with your phone tucked near your collar — and the difference is immediate.
Echo is the second killer. A tiled shop floor, an empty office or a marble-floored clinic room turns every sentence into a hollow ring that no editing fixes properly. Film in the smallest, softest room you have. Curtains, a bed, a sofa, a carpet, even a stack of clothes just outside frame all absorb reflections. If you must film in a hard room, get close to a wall rather than standing in the middle of it.
Then deal with Pakistan-specific noise. Ceiling fans and split ACs produce a constant hum — switch them off for the take and back on between takes, and film early morning if you are on a main road like Murree Road or the Expressway service lane. Generators next door mean you wait. Wind ruins outdoor audio completely, so a foam cover on the mic, or filming with your back to the breeze, is not optional.
If you are buying, buy in this order: wired collar mic, then a wireless pair if you move around while filming, then anything else. Do not spend PKR 20,000 on a shotgun mic while filming in an echoing room — the room is the problem, not the mic. Always record a few seconds of silence at the start of each session; it gives whoever edits a clean noise sample to work from.
