My domain has expired. Can I get it back?
Usually yes, if you act quickly. Most domains go through a grace period after expiry when the owner can still renew, then a redemption period with an extra fee, before being released for anyone to register. The exact periods depend on the domain ending and registrar, including PKNIC for .pk names. Contact your registrar immediately.

The longer answer
When a domain expires, the website and email linked to it usually stop working within a short time, which is how many businesses find out. For common endings like .com, registrars typically allow a renewal grace period at the normal price, followed by a redemption period in which recovery is still possible but costs more. After that, the domain is deleted and released, and anyone can register it, including people who buy expired domains with existing traffic to resell or reuse. Pakistani .pk domains follow PKNIC's own rules, so check with them or your reseller.
The first step is to find out who the registrar is and whose account the domain is in. A WHOIS lookup shows the registrar and dates. If the domain is in your own account, log in and renew; update the payment card so it does not happen again. If it is in a former developer's account, contact them urgently and also contact the registrar, because only the account holder can renew easily. Keep a record of every message in case you later need to prove the name belongs to your business.
If the domain has already been released and registered by someone else, recovery becomes difficult and may need legal advice, especially where a trademark is involved. Prevention is far cheaper: keep domains in your own name, turn on auto-renew with a valid card, renew for several years at a time, and keep the contact email current.
