Facebook in Pakistan: how it works and who it works for
Everyone in Pakistan still quietly uses Facebook — parents, plot dealers, car buyers, most of Rawalpindi. It is where a forty-five-year-old man looks for a plot in Bahria, where furniture gets sold inside groups, and where your post ends up as a WhatsApp forward. Older audience, bigger wallets, and ads that cost far less than Instagram.
Mechanics
How does Facebook decide who sees your posts?
The main feed is now mostly recommended Reels and video, the same as everywhere else — but in Pakistan the intent still lives in Groups and Marketplace, and those run on their own rules. Comments and shares count for far more than reactions, and a post that starts a real argument in the comments travels furthest. Paid reach is genuinely cheap here, and the blue Boost button wastes money: a proper campaign built in Ads Manager costs a fraction per enquiry.
| Format | Ratio | Length | Caption limit |
|---|---|---|---|
| Reel | 9:16 | Up to 90 seconds — shorter than Instagram allows, so re-cut, do not just repost | Long limit, but only the first line shows in the feed |
| Feed video | 16:9 or 4:5 | 1–5 minutes for a page post; longer is fine for a full talk or event recording | Up to 63,206 characters, but write for the first 80 before 'See more' |
| Photo or album post | 4:5 | Static; albums are the right format for property, furniture and event work | Same generous limit — two short lines plus a price outperforms a paragraph |
| Story | 9:16 | 20 seconds per video card | On-screen text only, in large type — this audience often reads without glasses |
| Link post | 1.91:1 preview image | Static preview pulled from your page | Two lines above the link is all that gets read |
| Marketplace listing | 1:1 | Several photos, all shot in daylight — Marketplace buyers scroll on thumbnails | Short title with the model or size in it; description carries price, area and condition |

Best times to post (PKT)
- 7–9am — older audiences open Facebook first; for many of them Instagram does not exist
- 1–3pm — the lunch and Zuhr break, the strongest weekday window for a local business page
- 8–10:30pm — family time after dinner, when plot and car posts get shared into group chats
- Friday morning before Jummah — community, religious and charity content moves fastest in these hours
- Eid week and wedding season evenings — greeting and offer posts get forwarded well past your own followers
Earning from Facebook in Pakistan
Facebook is one of the few platforms that genuinely pays creators in Pakistan. Eligible pages earn from in-stream ads on longer videos and from Reels through Meta's content monetisation, paid out to a bank account or Payoneer once you cross the threshold. Rates for a Pakistani audience are low — think YouTube territory or below — and Meta renames and reshuffles these programmes often, so treat any figure you were quoted last year as expired. For a normal business page, ignore payouts entirely: the value here is cheap ad reach and Marketplace enquiries, not revenue share.
What we do
What we do on Facebook for a client every month
- 01Re-cut the vertical videos we already made for TikTok and Instagram into Facebook Reels under 90 seconds, with captions written for an older reader
- 02Post three times a week on the page with the price, the area and the WhatsApp number visible in the post itself
- 03Post into the local buy-and-sell and community groups your customers already sit in, at a pace that does not get you removed for spam
- 04Keep the About section, hours, service area and cover photo matching your Google Business Profile exactly
- 05Build and watch Meta ad campaigns daily in Ads Manager instead of using Boost, and show you the cost per enquiry every week
- 06Answer page messages and comments, and move Marketplace enquiries into a WhatsApp conversation
- 07Create and refresh Marketplace listings with daylight photos and honest prices so they keep surfacing
- 08Report monthly on reach, cost per enquiry and exactly which post brought the phone calls
