What is Checkout?
Checkout is the final part of an online purchase, from the moment someone views their cart to the order confirmation: entering contact details and a delivery address, choosing shipping, selecting a payment method and confirming. It is where most of the effort in a store pays off or is lost, because every extra field, surprise charge, forced account sign-up or slow step gives a ready buyer a reason to stop. A good checkout asks only for what is needed to deliver and get paid, shows the total including delivery early, and works smoothly on a phone.
What does Checkout mean for a business in Pakistan?
Pakistani checkouts often demand an email address and account creation even though customers would rather give a mobile number. Address fields designed for Western formats also struggle with Pakistani addresses written as house, street, sector and a landmark. A checkout built around a phone number, a free-text address with a landmark field and visible COD makes a real difference.
A worked example
A Rawalpindi shoe store's checkout has 14 fields, including a required email, postcode and account password. It cuts this to six: name, mobile number, city, full address, landmark and payment method. Email becomes optional for receipts. The order summary shows the delivery charge from the cart page, so the total at the end is no surprise.
