Social media management for NGOs and charities in Islamabad & Rawalpindi

Most of a year's donations arrive in one month. Ramadan decides your budget and the last ten days decide Ramadan. A Rawalpindi welfare trust that shows the ration bag, the receipt and the family's door gets a PKR 5,000 transfer from a stranger in Jeddah. One that posts a banner gets nothing.

What makes social media hard for NGOs and charities?

These are the things we hear most from NGOs and charities in the twin cities. If two or three of them sound like your week, everything below is aimed straight at them.

  • 01Trust is the entire product, and one fake donation page using your name can undo a year of work in a week.
  • 02Zakat comes with rules, so donors ask who is eligible, how much reaches the field, and whether zakat funds are kept separate.
  • 03Dignity fights fundraising: the photograph that raises the most money is usually the one you should not take.
  • 04Everything collapses into Ramadan, then eleven quiet months arrive with the same salaries, rent and fuel bills.
  • 05Volunteers turn up for the group photo on day one and disappear by the third week.

What should a ngos & charitie business post?

4 themes you can return to forever, so you are never staring at the camera wondering what to say. We build your month out of these.

01

Rupee by rupee

Show where a specific donation went, with the receipt and the date. Not annual percentages — one bag, one surgery, one month of school fees, traceable by anyone reading.

  • Where last week's PKR 5,000 donation went, with the receipt
  • What one ration bag contains and what it costs at this week's rates
  • Our administrative cost, stated plainly and without excuses

02

The work, filmed as it happens

Distribution day, the clinic queue, the school at 8am. Filmed with consent and without humiliating anybody — the proof is in the ordinariness, not in tears.

  • Distribution day in a Rawalpindi katchi abadi, 6am to noon
  • A surgery funded in March and the patient in August, with his consent
  • The school on an ordinary Monday morning, unedited

03

The rules of giving

Donors genuinely do not know what zakat can pay for. Answering the fiqh question honestly makes you the page they check every Ramadan, whether or not they give that day.

  • Zakat, sadqa and fitrana: what each one can and cannot pay for
  • This year's fitrana rate and the last date to give it
  • Can zakat money pay a teacher's salary? The honest answer

04

The people who do it

Donors give to people, not to organisations. Introduce the driver, the field officer, the volunteer on her first day — it also recruits the next twenty volunteers.

  • The driver who has run this route for nine years
  • A volunteer's first day, filmed on her own phone
  • Why our field team calls every family before a delivery

Which platforms are worth it for NGOs and charities?

Ranked for this trade specifically, with how often we would post on each.

Platform priority for NGOs and charities
PlatformPriorityHow oftenWhy it works for this trade
Facebook#1daily in Ramadan, 4 posts per week otherwiseOverseas Pakistanis and the thirty-five-plus donor base live here, and a Facebook fundraiser with a visible receipt still moves more money than anything else.
YouTube#22 films per month plus 4 ShortsA five-minute film about one family is what a corporate CSR committee actually watches before signing off a budget.
Instagram#34 posts per week plus daily stories in RamadanYoung donors and volunteers are here, and stories filmed live during a distribution convert far better than anything posted afterwards.
TikTok#44 clips per weekOne honest field clip can reach a hundred thousand people who have never heard of your trust, without a rupee of ad spend.
WhatsApp Channels#52 updates per weekRegular donors want the receipt and the update without joining anything public, and a channel does exactly that.

What is a customer worth, and what should you spend?

Online donations mostly land between PKR 2,000 and 10,000, with zakat transfers from abroad far larger. Ramadan can bring a year's budget in thirty days. Most trusts spend nothing on content and lose those donors to slicker organisations doing identical work.

Who is already doing this well in Pakistan?

Accounts worth studying before you post anything. We are not affiliated with any of them — they are here because the approach is worth copying.

YouTube

Shaukat Khanum Memorial Cancer Hospital

Ramadan appeals built around one named patient and a clear figure — the specific story raises what a general appeal never does.

Facebook

Alkhidmat Foundation

District-level chapters post their own local work, so a donor in Rawalpindi sees Rawalpindi, not a national campaign.

Facebook

Transparent Hands

Publishes each case with its cost and its outcome, turning transparency itself into the fundraising mechanism.

Where are NGOs and charities concentrated in the twin cities?

We work across all of Islamabad and Rawalpindi, but these are the areas where this trade clusters — useful if you are working out where your customers come from.

Islamabad

  • F-6

One of the oldest and richest sectors, lived in by senior civil servants, politicians and old Islamabad families. Two very different markets serve it: Super Market in the Markaz for books, banks, tailors and pharmacies, and Kohsar Market in F-6/3, where the city's expensive cafés and bakeries have clustered for years.

  • F-7

F-7 Markaz — everybody calls it Jinnah Super — is the market every person in Islamabad has shopped in at least once. Saeed Book Bank, bridal boutiques, salons, phone shops and a thick ring of restaurants. Behind it the sector is quiet, leafy and costly, full of embassy staff and business families.

  • F-8

F-8 is where Islamabad goes for its legal work. The district courts sit in F-8 Markaz, so the plazas around them are wall to wall with lawyers' chambers, stamp vendors and typists. Ayub Market handles the daily shopping, and the residents are largely government officers and settled professional families.

  • Blue Area

Islamabad's central business district: a long strip of office towers along Jinnah Avenue, sitting between the F and G sectors. Banks, telecom head offices, law chambers, travel agents and consultancies are stacked floor on floor, with ground-floor cafés feeding the lunch rush. Almost nobody lives here, and by nine at night it is empty.

  • G-9

G-9 Markaz is Karachi Company, the market ordinary Islamabad actually shops in. Wedding-season cloth, shoes, luggage, mobile repair, cheap electronics and a hundred tailors, spread over blocks that stay busy until late. The residential side is older middle-class housing and government flats, so footfall never depends on visitors.

Rawalpindi

  • Satellite Town

Satellite Town was Rawalpindi's first planned suburb, laid out in lettered blocks in the 1960s, and it has aged into a doctors' quarter. Consultant clinics, dental surgeries and small labs work out of converted houses around Holy Family Hospital. Patients are local and they choose on reputation, not advertising.

These are the phrases people in this trade actually type. If your page does not answer them, someone else's does.

  • zakat kahan dein Pakistan
  • best charity in Islamabad for donation
  • orphan sponsorship Pakistan monthly
  • ration bag donation Rawalpindi
  • NGO in Islamabad for education donate
  • zakat calculator Pakistan 2026
  • sadqa kis ko dena chahiye

Which services move the numbers for NGOs and charities?

NGOs & charities questions we get every week

How much does social media management cost for NGOs and charities in Islamabad?

Packages run from PKR 15,000 to PKR 70,000 a month, and most NGOs and charities start on Growth at PKR 35,000. Ramadan needs daily posting on three platforms and a film every fortnight; the other eleven months need proof the work carried on. Growth covers both without hiring a full-time person you cannot fund. A one-time audit of your existing page is PKR 5,000, credited if you go monthly.

Which platform should NGOs and charities focus on first?

Facebook. Overseas Pakistanis and the thirty-five-plus donor base live here, and a Facebook fundraiser with a visible receipt still moves more money than anything else. We would run it at daily in ramadan, 4 posts per week otherwise and add nothing else until that is steady.

What would you actually post for a ngos & charitie business?

rupee by rupee, the work, filmed as it happens, the rules of giving — those three alone fill a month. Show where a specific donation went, with the receipt and the date. Not annual percentages — one bag, one surgery, one month of school fees, traceable by anyone reading.

Do you work with NGOs and charities in Rawalpindi as well as Islamabad?

Yes, we treat the twin cities as one service area. We see a lot of NGOs and charities around F-6, F-7, F-8, Blue Area. Most of the work runs over WhatsApp and Drive, and we come to you for the first meeting or a shoot.

How long before a ngos & charitie account starts bringing in customers?

You will see the output in week one and the numbers in month one. For a local trade like this, enquiries usually start moving in the second or third month, once there is enough posted for someone to trust that you are still open and still good.
