Social media management for edtech startups in Islamabad & Rawalpindi

An edtech startup in Islamabad sells to two people at once: a seventeen-year-old who will only install the app if his class group did, and an investor who wants to see the download graph. A PKR 1,500-a-month subscription needs volume, and volume in Pakistan comes from free short video.

What makes social media hard for edtech startups?

These are the things we hear most from edtech startups in the twin cities. If two or three of them sound like your week, everything below is aimed straight at them.

  • 01Two audiences on one page: students want fast clips and jokes, while school buyers and investors want credibility and numbers.
  • 02Installs are cheap to buy and thirty-day retention is not, so the vanity metric and the metric that pays are pulling in opposite directions.
  • 03The student wants it and the father pays for it, so your best ad still loses to a parent who thinks the phone is the actual problem.
  • 04Sabaq, YouTube and PDF notes circulating on WhatsApp have already trained the market to expect all of this for free.
  • 05Everything hangs on board results and entry-test dates — miss the August window and you have lost the academic year.

What should a edtech startup business post?

4 themes you can return to forever, so you are never staring at the camera wondering what to say. We build your month out of these.

01

The product answering a real question

Not a render, not a mockup. Screen-record the app taking an actual past-paper question and producing the working, uncut, including the two seconds it takes to load on a normal phone.

  • Asking the app a real MDCAT biology question and showing the full working
  • Solving a past paper on the app in real time, nothing sped up

02

Free value that needs no download

The MCQ of the day, one concept in Urdu in forty-five seconds, a formula sheet as a carousel. Posted natively so it works for somebody who is never going to install anything.

  • Daily MDCAT MCQ as a Reel with the answer in the first comment
  • One physics concept a day in Urdu, forty-five seconds, no app mentioned

03

Building in public

For LinkedIn: what happened when you piloted in twelve Rawalpindi schools, why you made the free tier bigger, what retention actually looked like. School buyers and investors read this. Students never will.

  • What twelve school pilots in Rawalpindi taught us about teacher adoption
  • We doubled the free tier — here is what it did to conversions

04

The user, not the founder

A government-school teacher showing how she uses it during a live period, a student from a small town who prepared without any academy. Their words, their room, their own phone.

  • A government-school teacher uses the app during an actual class period
  • Student from a small town on preparing for entry tests with no academy nearby

What is a customer worth, and what should you spend?

Pakistani study apps price between PKR 500 and PKR 3,000 a month, so a paying user is worth PKR 6,000 to PKR 20,000 a year at best. That arithmetic only works at scale, which is why organic short video beats an ad budget.

Our recommendation for this trade

Channel or page audit — PKR 5,000

You already have somebody posting. What you lack is a diagnosis. The PKR 5,000 audit shows where your Reels lose people and what your titles cost you, and the fee is credited if you hand over the work.

  • 30-point audit of your channel or page
  • Written growth plan you can act on yourself
  • Thumbnail and title rewrites for your last 5 posts
  • Fee is credited if you start a monthly package

Who is already doing this well in Pakistan?

Accounts worth studying before you post anything. We are not affiliated with any of them — they are here because the approach is worth copying.

Instagram · over four million app downloads, covering MDCAT, ECAT and O-Level

Maqsad

Daily question clips in Urdu do the acquisition and the app is mentioned at the end, if at all. Teach first, install second.

Facebook · around two million student-app users; its shows have aired on PTV

Taleemabad

They built characters and stories instead of lecture slides, so curriculum content competes with entertainment rather than with tuition.

YouTube · 18,000-plus free lectures, millions of users a year

Sabaq Foundation

Free at that scale is the price everybody else is measured against. Whatever you charge for, it cannot be the video itself.

Where are edtech startups concentrated in the twin cities?

We work across all of Islamabad and Rawalpindi, but these are the areas where this trade clusters — useful if you are working out where your customers come from.

Islamabad

  • Blue Area

Islamabad's central business district: a long strip of office towers along Jinnah Avenue, sitting between the F and G sectors. Banks, telecom head offices, law chambers, travel agents and consultancies are stacked floor on floor, with ground-floor cafés feeding the lunch rush. Almost nobody lives here, and by nine at night it is empty.

  • F-7

F-7 Markaz — everybody calls it Jinnah Super — is the market every person in Islamabad has shopped in at least once. Saeed Book Bank, bridal boutiques, salons, phone shops and a thick ring of restaurants. Behind it the sector is quiet, leafy and costly, full of embassy staff and business families.

  • F-8

F-8 is where Islamabad goes for its legal work. The district courts sit in F-8 Markaz, so the plazas around them are wall to wall with lawyers' chambers, stamp vendors and typists. Ayub Market handles the daily shopping, and the residents are largely government officers and settled professional families.

  • G-9

G-9 Markaz is Karachi Company, the market ordinary Islamabad actually shops in. Wedding-season cloth, shoes, luggage, mobile repair, cheap electronics and a hundred tailors, spread over blocks that stay busy until late. The residential side is older middle-class housing and government flats, so footfall never depends on visitors.

  • I-8

I-8 is the best-planned of the I sectors and the one with real office money in it. The Markaz holds banks, private hospitals, coaching academies and corporate branch offices, and the residential blocks are settled professional families. Sitting beside Faizabad and the Expressway, it pulls customers in from Rawalpindi too.

  • I-10

I-10 is where a lot of the twin cities' everyday trade happens. The Markaz is packed with keenly priced clothes, shoes, phone shops and furniture, and the sub-sectors hold cheap rentals for students and workers. Its edge on IJP Road makes it as much a Rawalpindi market as an Islamabad one.

These are the phrases people in this trade actually type. If your page does not answer them, someone else's does.

  • best MDCAT preparation app Pakistan
  • online learning app for Pakistani students
  • edtech startup Islamabad jobs
  • sasta online academy Pakistan
  • study app free trial Pakistan
  • how to market an education app in Pakistan
  • app marketing agency Islamabad

Which services move the numbers for edtech startups?

Edtech startups questions we get every week

How much does social media management cost for edtech startups in Islamabad?

Packages run from PKR 15,000 to PKR 70,000 a month, and most edtech startups start on Channel or page audit at PKR 5,000. You already have somebody posting. What you lack is a diagnosis. The PKR 5,000 audit shows where your Reels lose people and what your titles cost you, and the fee is credited if you hand over the work. A one-time audit of your existing page is PKR 5,000, credited if you go monthly.

Which platform should edtech startups focus on first?

TikTok. This is where Pakistani teenagers decide what to install, and it is the cheapest install you will ever get. We would run it at 6–7 clips a week and add nothing else until that is steady.

What would you actually post for a edtech startup business?

the product answering a real question, free value that needs no download, building in public — those three alone fill a month. Not a render, not a mockup. Screen-record the app taking an actual past-paper question and producing the working, uncut, including the two seconds it takes to load on a normal phone.

Do you work with edtech startups in Rawalpindi as well as Islamabad?

Yes, we treat the twin cities as one service area. We see a lot of edtech startups around Blue Area, F-7, F-8, G-9. Most of the work runs over WhatsApp and Drive, and we come to you for the first meeting or a shoot.

How long before a edtech startup account starts bringing in customers?

You will see the output in week one and the numbers in month one. For a local trade like this, enquiries usually start moving in the second or third month, once there is enough posted for someone to trust that you are still open and still good.
