Subject lines we might test
'Twelve new titles on the front table this week', 'The Eid gift shortlist from our F-6 shelves', 'Last day to order a holiday cake', 'A note from the owner: why we stock this author'.
Email marketing
We set up a simple, permission-based email list for an F-6 shop — new arrivals, author events, seasonal collections, a monthly note from the owner — collected at the till and on the website, designed to read well on a phone, and sent on a steady schedule your customers learn to expect.
On the Pro package, PKR 70,000+ per month. Ad spend, if you run ads, is separate.
Why it fits
F-6 still has customers who read email: retired officers, academics, diplomatic households and foreigners working nearby, many of whom never open Instagram. A bookshop near Super Market, a boutique with a loyal clientele or a Kohsar bakery taking holiday orders can reach them directly without paying for every view. Email also suits the slower rhythm of these shops. A monthly letter about new titles or a seasonal order list lands better with this crowd than daily posts, and unlike a social account, the list is yours.

A sign-up card
'One email a month: new arrivals, events and early access to sales. Unsubscribe any time.' Placed at the till with a QR code and a pen, because some F-6 customers still prefer to write their address by hand.
For some audiences, yes. F-6 bookshops and boutiques serve retired professionals, academics and embassy families who read email and dislike being chased on WhatsApp. A monthly newsletter costs little to send, belongs to you rather than a platform, and keeps a loyal customer close between visits. Mass-market shops elsewhere usually do better on WhatsApp.
Ask at the till, honestly, and give a reason: early news of arrivals, events or order deadlines. A QR card on the counter, a sign-up box on the website and an offer to tell someone when a requested book arrives build a list slowly but cleanly. Never add anyone without their permission.
Pitfalls
The area
One of the oldest and richest sectors, lived in by senior civil servants, politicians and old Islamabad families. Two very different markets serve it: Super Market in the Markaz for books, banks, tailors and pharmacies, and Kohsar Market in F-6/3, where the city's expensive cafés and bakeries have clustered for years.

A serious personal brand or business running 2-3 platforms properly.
These are the questions we get on WhatsApp every week, answered the way we would answer them there.
WhatsApp usOne a month is plenty for most F-6 shops, with a short extra send before Eid, school season or a new collection. People subscribe to a bookshop or boutique to hear about things worth knowing, not to receive a weekly sales flyer.
Whichever suits the size of your list — usually a well-known service with a free or low tier for small lists. The account is registered in your name, so the subscribers and their history stay with you.
