Why does my competitor show on Google Maps and not my business?

Google's own help pages name three factors for local results: relevance, distance and prominence. Relevance is whether your profile and website clearly match the search. If someone types 'AC repair Bahria Town' and your primary category is 'Electrician' while your competitor's is 'Air conditioning repair service', they look like the better match before anything else is considered. Prominence is how well known and trusted you look online — reviews, how recent they are, mentions on other sites and the strength of your website.

Distance explains a lot of confusion. Google measures from where the searcher is, or the area they name. A shop in Commercial Market will often appear for someone standing in Satellite Town and vanish for someone in G-13, and checking from your own office gives a flattering, misleading picture. Before deciding you are losing, check the same search from several places, or use a rank-tracking tool that simulates different points across the city.

Then compare honestly. Open both profiles side by side and look at categories, the number and recency of reviews, whether they reply to them, photos, opening hours, and whether their name has keywords stuffed into it. That last one is common in the twin cities and breaks Google's guidelines; you can suggest an edit or report it, though Google does not always act. Also check whether your profile is verified at all — an unverified listing barely shows. Most gaps found this way are fixable in a few weeks; review counts take longer and should only ever be closed with genuine customers.
