Can people find my business through TikTok search?

TikTok is not only a feed. People type searches into it the way they would into Google, especially for food, fashion, beauty, travel and "how to" questions. When they do, TikTok returns videos it believes match the words, using the caption, the text on screen, the spoken words it transcribes, and hashtags. A video that clearly says "chicken karahi in Saddar, Rawalpindi" in its caption and on screen has a far better chance of showing up for that search than one captioned only with emojis and #foryou.

So write captions for searchers, not just for scrollers. Name the product or service, the city or area, and the specific thing the video shows: "gold facial at our F-10 salon — what happens in 45 minutes" says more than "glow up time". Put a short version of the same words on screen in the first frames, because that text is read too. If you speak in the video, say the key words aloud. Use a few relevant hashtags that describe the content rather than a long list of generic ones; they add context but are not magic.

Search also rewards videos that answer questions. Formats like "how much does a sofa set cost to reupholster", "what to wear to a mehndi in winter" or "is this shampoo safe for coloured hair" match what people actually type, and they keep being found long after the post date. A good habit is to collect the questions customers ask in DMs and at the counter and turn each into a short answer video.
