Can a Pakistani online store use Stripe or PayPal?

This question comes up because so many online tutorials and themes assume Stripe or PayPal at checkout. A seller in Islamabad installs a theme, sees the Stripe option, and only finds out at sign-up that the country list does not include Pakistan for business accounts. The same applies to Shopify Payments. None of this stops you selling online; it simply means the card and wallet payments must run through a provider that does operate here, such as a bank's e-commerce gateway or a licensed local payment aggregator.

For a store selling to customers inside Pakistan, a local gateway is the better fit anyway. Buyers recognise JazzCash and Easypaisa, many do not have international cards, and settlement arrives in rupees in your own bank. Cash on delivery remains popular for first orders, so it should sit alongside any gateway. Some sellers also take direct bank transfers or Raast payments and confirm them on WhatsApp, which works for small volumes but becomes hard to reconcile as orders grow.

Selling abroad is a separate problem. Freelancers and exporters sometimes register a company in another country or use a cross-border payments service to receive foreign payments, but that brings company registration, tax and State Bank rules into play, and it is not something a website developer should advise on alone.
