Social media management for thrift stores in Islamabad & Rawalpindi

Thrift is a one-piece business. Every jacket in the bale exists once, so the post that sells it is dead by morning and you need new stock on camera daily. Pieces go for PKR 400 to 1,500, a bale costs PKR 10,000 to 25,000, and one Friday night live sale to students in Islamabad can clear half of it.

What makes social media hard for thrift stores?

These are the things we hear most from thrift stores in the twin cities. If two or three of them sound like your week, everything below is aimed straight at them.

  • 01Every item is a single piece, so a post that works is useless the next day and you need fresh stock filmed every night.
  • 02The first two questions are always whether it is washed and whether someone actually wore it, and price only comes third.
  • 03Live sales turn into arguments when three people comment 'mine' on the same jacket within one second of each other.
  • 04You buy a bale blind — one bad PKR 15,000 gaath can be half unsellable and you find out only after you open it.
  • 05Foreign sizing lies: a UK medium fits like a Pakistani large, and every mismatched piece comes back at your cost.

What should a thrift store business post?

4 themes you can return to forever, so you are never staring at the camera wondering what to say. We build your month out of these.

01

Live sale night

The live is the business, not a promotion for it. Fixed night, fixed time, clear rules for claiming, payment and dispatch — repeated until your buyers plan their week around it.

  • Friday 9pm live: rules card posted at 8pm every week
  • First 'mine' in the comments gets it, explained in 30 seconds
  • Last week's live in 60 seconds — what sold and for how much

02

Bale opening

Opening a fresh gaath on camera is the most watched thing in this trade. People want the gamble, the first look and the chance to claim something before it is even sorted.

  • New winter bale cut open, first twelve pieces pulled out
  • What we paid for this bale and what came out of it
  • Best three finds from today's gaath

03

Measurements, not sizes

Thrift sizing cannot be trusted, so stop posting size labels. Put a tape on the chest, the shoulder and the length and read the numbers out. This is what ends returns.

  • Tape across the chest and down the length, numbers on screen
  • Why this jacket's label says M but fits like an L here
  • How to measure a shirt you already own and match it to ours

04

Washed, steamed, checked

Hygiene is the objection that stops most first-time thrift buyers in Pakistan. Show the washing, the steaming, the checking for stains and missing buttons before anything is listed.

  • Wash and steam process on this week's stock, start to finish
  • Every piece checked for stains and buttons before it goes live
  • Before and after on a jacket that came out of the bale dirty

What is a customer worth, and what should you spend?

Pieces sell at PKR 400 to 1,500 and a good winter coat at 2,500. A bale costs PKR 10,000 to 25,000 and may hold sixty wearable items, so one sold-out live night clears the cost of the bale and everything after it is profit.

OLX Pakistan

Second-hand sells on honest photos and a written condition note. The listings that state the flaw outperform the ones that hide it.

Daraz Pakistan

Their live selling format — one item, a countdown, claim now — is exactly what a thrift page can run for free on Instagram.

Where are thrift stores concentrated in the twin cities?

We work across all of Islamabad and Rawalpindi, but these are the areas where this trade clusters — useful if you are working out where your customers come from.

Islamabad

  • G-9

G-9 Markaz is Karachi Company, the market ordinary Islamabad actually shops in. Wedding-season cloth, shoes, luggage, mobile repair, cheap electronics and a hundred tailors, spread over blocks that stay busy until late. The residential side is older middle-class housing and government flats, so footfall never depends on visitors.

  • I-8

I-8 is the best-planned of the I sectors and the one with real office money in it. The Markaz holds banks, private hospitals, coaching academies and corporate branch offices, and the residential blocks are settled professional families. Sitting beside Faizabad and the Expressway, it pulls customers in from Rawalpindi too.

Rawalpindi

  • Raja Bazaar

Raja Bazaar is the old city's wholesale engine — narrow lanes off Fowara Chowk where cloth, gold and crockery move by the carton, not the piece. Moti Bazaar dresses a large share of the twin cities' brides. Business peaks in the ten days before Eid and goes flat through the monsoon.

  • Saddar

Saddar is the Cantt side of Pindi's old shopping heart. Bank Road and Kashmir Road are lined with tailors, shoe shops, opticians and watch repairers who have held the same shutter for forty years. Trade runs on walk-ins from the railway station and the Cantt offices, and almost none of it is online.

  • Commercial Market

Commercial Market is Satellite Town's high street: two long rows of clothing outlets, shoe shops, cosmetics counters and food carts that fill up after Maghrib. It sells to families rather than wholesalers, so prices are fixed and the evening crowd decides everything. Parking is the standing complaint.

  • Murree Road

Murree Road is the spine that carries Rawalpindi from Marrir Chowk up to Faizabad, with the Metro Bus running above it the whole way. Car showrooms, marriage halls, furniture galleries and coaching centres take the frontage; everything behind them is housing. Being seen from the bus lane is the whole game.

These are the phrases people in this trade actually type. If your page does not answer them, someone else's does.

  • thrift store Islamabad online
  • landa bazaar Rawalpindi timing
  • preloved clothes Islamabad delivery
  • thrift live sale Pakistan Instagram
  • sasta imported jacket Rawalpindi

Which services move the numbers for thrift stores?

Thrift stores questions we get every week

How much does social media management cost for thrift stores in Islamabad?

Packages run from PKR 15,000 to PKR 70,000 a month, and most thrift stores start on Channel or page audit at PKR 5,000. You run the live nights and they work — you do not know why reach dropped. The PKR 5,000 audit gives you a written plan, a rewritten bio and better hooks, and the fee comes off if you go monthly. A one-time audit of your existing page is PKR 5,000, credited if you go monthly.

Which platform should thrift stores focus on first?

Instagram. Live sales, stories and claim-in-the-comments all happen here, and the student crowd that buys thrift lives on it. We would run it at daily stories, 4 reels per week, 1 live sale night and add nothing else until that is steady.

What would you actually post for a thrift store business?

live sale night, bale opening, measurements, not sizes — those three alone fill a month. The live is the business, not a promotion for it. Fixed night, fixed time, clear rules for claiming, payment and dispatch — repeated until your buyers plan their week around it.

Do you work with thrift stores in Rawalpindi as well as Islamabad?

Yes, we treat the twin cities as one service area. We see a lot of thrift stores around Raja Bazaar, Saddar, Commercial Market, G-9. Most of the work runs over WhatsApp and Drive, and we come to you for the first meeting or a shoot.

How long before a thrift store account starts bringing in customers?

You will see the output in week one and the numbers in month one. For a local trade like this, enquiries usually start moving in the second or third month, once there is enough posted for someone to trust that you are still open and still good.
